Water of Leith series, Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show, Scotland
Water of Leith series was inspired by my walks alongside the industrial landscape at the Water the Leith, Edinburgh. The conversation between different mediums and imagery within my drawing and making initiated a more three dimensional approach to initiate movement within and around the installation. I still wanted the simplicity and beauty of the paint to be recognised paying particular attention to the quality and precision of the painted surface to entice the viewer to the surface of the painting.
Sophia was awarded the Pittenweem Bursary Award, a funded opportunity at the Pittenweem Arts Festival and the Artist's Collecting Society Studio Award funding a 12 month studio residency and stipend post graduation.
